Passing of Sir Knight Willard M. Avery, Most Eminent Past Grand Master

To all Sir Knights under the jurisdiction of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Florida.
It is with deep sadness that I advise you of the passing of Sir Knight Willard Meredith Avery, Most Eminent Past Grand Master (1976-1979). He laid down his sword and entered the Supreme Asylum above on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Sir Knight Avery served as Right Eminent Grand Commander of Indiana in 1956-1957. He was appointed Right Eminent Department Commander for the East Central Department in 1961-1964. He was elected Right Eminent Grand Captain General in 1967 and as Most Eminent Grand Master in 1976.
In keeping with the order of Sir Knight William H. Koon, Most Eminent Grand Master of the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar of the United States of America, I hereby order and direct all Constituent Commanderies under the jurisdiction of Florida, to drape their Charters at their next Stated Conclave, following receipt of this directive, in honor of Sir Knight Willard M. Avery. The Charter is to remain draped until the following Stated Conclave. In addition, appropriate tribute will be given to Sir Knight Avery at the Constituent Commanderies’ Annual Memorial Service.
This directive is issued and signed on this 17th day of February, 2012 A.D. in the city of Homosassa, Florida.

District 8 Meeting

The District 8 Meeting will be held on Saturday, December 10th at Citrus Lodge No. 118, 301 Hendrix Avenue Inverness FL (map). Registration starts at 11:00 a.m., Lunch at Noon, Men’s and Ladies’ Programs begin at 1:00 p.m. (Flyer).

The Grand Commander’s Homecoming will follow the meeting at the Inverness Country and Golf Club (map) beginning at 6:00 p.m.
